This is a recorded webinar provided by SOLS, free of charge and on demand. It was recorded May 2016.

In 2016, the Canadian Urban Libraries Council (CULC) commissioned Brightsail Research to conduct a study to explore how library space is used. Three library systems; Brampton Library, Calgary Public Library and Markham Public Library participated in the study. Throughout 2016 and early 2017, observations and surveys were conducted to collect data on space use. The results were published in a final report in November 2017, available on the CULC web site.

This webinar will describe the study’s methodology, key findings, and lessons learned from the project. In addition, Kim Silk will discuss the importance of conducting research as part of library practice, and how to strengthen our sector through inquiry, how to tackle the research process and sharing results.  She also will provide an update on current library research to come.
